Over 50% of women enter postpartum depleted of key nutrients. Nutrition is the foundation to healing your body and impacts your emotional and physical health, as well as your baby. Food fuels your body and every process within it; including digestion, hormone balance, sleep, memory and more. Without nutrients from food, your body can’t function properly.
Eating in postpartum is different than eating in pregnancy. A postpartum body lacks digestive enzymes and juices making it difficult to break down and absorb nutrients which means you need to eat in a way to support the biologically normal and temporary changes. Healing after birth takes a lot of energy and care. A homemade meal service, with an array of options, makes it easy to give your body the nourishment it needs and eliminate the stress of preparing and cooking postpartum meals.
Prenatally, if you are suffering from pregnancy nausea or hyperemesis gravidarum, please reach out. I can help support you through this tough time in pregnancy by preparing meals, so you don’t have to be in the kitchen. Prenatal is also a great time to stock your freezer for some nourishing meals that you will be able to enjoy once the baby joins your family.
Have your friends throw a “meal prep shower” for you instead of or in addition to a “traditional baby shower”. I can help direct your friends in creating these wonderful recipes. Gift certificates are also a great way for friends to contribute to your nourishment after birth.
I will shop for the freshest, organic (when available) whole food ingredients, cook everything with love and care, store the meals safely, provide labels and directions for heating and serving and leave a sparkling clean kitchen prior to departing. These meals, though based on postpartum healing, are great for the whole family as they are organic, whole food ingredients that are nourishing for everyone.
